ANDREW HOWE

""If fifty million people say a foolish thing, it is still a foolish thing"
- Anatole France"

Agrees with the Tomatometer 74% of the time.

Biography: The sordid details - born 3/6/68, currently living in Sydney, Australia. I wrote film reviews for my friends for a number of years (which is probably why I have so few friends left …), until the rise of the Internet gave me the chance to inflict my ramblings on the world at large. I am the Assistant Editor and co-founder of Film Written, a labour of love which I embarked upon with my good friend Jaime Christley in October 1999.Everything else which needs to be said is contained in my mission statement for the site, so I think I'll just reproduce it below and leave you in peace. "Whenever someone asks me what I look for in a film review, several words spring to mind. There's flexibility, meaning simply that the reviewer doesn't think that the last great film was released in 1939, or that any film embraced by the public at large must, by definition, be mass market trash. Entertainment is high on the list, since I gave up reading dry, in-depth critical analyses the day I graduated from university. But most of all I want *passion*, to know that this person truly loves movies and writes about them because they want to share the fire with the world at large. I like to think that you will find all of these things on this site, and maybe a few more besides. I'm writing for everyone who ever felt a little of the magic, and if I break that promise I'm sure you'll let me know. But in closing I will say this - sometimes you'll be tapping your feet in time, and other times you may feel the need to put me in my place, but I'll be doing my damnedest to make sure you'll never be bored. Of all the things that'll kill you, that's definitely the slowest and most painful."
Favorites: Braveheart The Shawshank Redemption The Good, the Bad and the Ugly Rushmore Glory
