Box Office Guru Preview: Wolverine Sinks Claws Into Summer Box Office

Six sharp adamantium blades kick off the summer movie season as Fox unleashes its most popular comic book character in his own film with X-Men Origins: Wolverine with Hugh Jackman starring and producing. The North American box office is set for the first in a long string of blockbuster openings as major franchise films debut every weekend in the month of May. Also hitting multiplexes this weekend are the romantic fantasy comedy Ghosts of Girlfriends Past starring Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner and the animated adventure flick Battle for Terra. Invading over 4,000 theaters domestically and more than 9,000 additional screens internationally in a massive global assault is Wolverine which documents the history of the fan-favorite mutant.

Woody Allen Makes a "Match" With DreamWorks

Woody Allen's well-received entry into the Cannes Film Festival, "Match Point," has been snatched up by DreamWorks Pictures for a cool $4 million. Described as much darker in tone than many of Mr. Allen's recent comedies, "Match Point" is a dramatic thriller that stars Jonathan Rhys-Meyers ("Bend It Like Beckham"), Scarlett Johansson ("The Island"), Emily Mortimer ("Dear Frankie"), Matthew Goode ("Chasing Liberty"), and Brian Cox ("X-Men 2").

"Chronicles of Narnia" Set Photos

Comingsoon.net has found a Czech website that has posted some set photos from "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe." The pics show a cave-like structure with an ornate door as well as the snowy area around it. "The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe" is the first book of seven in the "Chronicles of Narnia" series by C.S. Lewis.

A making-of featurette for "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" is available at Comingsoon.net. The film, a live action/CGI adaptation of the book by C.S. Lewis, is scheduled for release in December of 2005. Directed by Andrew Adamson, the film stars Tilda Swinton, Brian Cox, and Rupert Everett.
