Alain Bernheim, French Masonic author, was born in Paris and now lives in Switzerland. He stopped his concert career in 1980 for health reasons after giving some 2,000 piano recitals. Since then he has devoted his life to masonic research.
Memberships
He is a member of the Lodge of Research Ars Macionica N° 30 (Regular Grand Lodge of Belgium), Inspector General Honorary, 33°, of the Supreme Council of the United States (S.J.), Chevalier Bienfaisant de la Cité Sainte and Visiteur Général d'Honneur of the Grand Priory of Belgium (Rectified Scottish Rite) and a member of the Royal Order of Scotland.
Literature
He wrote Les Débuts de la Franc-Maçonnerie à Genève et en Suisse for the 150th anniversary of the Swiss Grand Lodge Alpina (Slatkine, Genève 1994) and some sixty entries of the Encyclopédie de la Franc-Maçonnerie (Hachette, Paris 2000).
Awards
Quatuor Coronati Lodge, London, awarded him the Norman Spencer Prize twice -- (1986 and 1993). He is a Fellow of the Scottish Rite Research Society and received the Albert G. Mackey Award for Excellence in Masonic Scholarship (2001).
