Alex McCrindle (August 3, 1911 - April 20, 1990). Born in Glasgow, Scotland he was a British actor. He is best known for his role as General Jan Dodonna in Star Wars.
He began his acting career in 1937 staring in minor roles in UK Television. In 1951 he stared in his first film in the U.S called "The House in the Square". From there his acting career took off. He then did 4 more films, I Believe in You (1952),The Kidnappers (1953), Trouble in the Glen (1954), & Geordie (1955)U.S, & Depth Charge (1960). From 1962-1974 he
went to TV acting. In 1977 he got the part as General Dodonna in the first Star Wars film.
He once again went back to minor roles on TV. He did 2 last films and a tv appearance: Samson and Delilah (1985),Comrades (1987), Taggart (1988) TV series).
He as married to children novelist Honor Arundel.
