Amanda Tapping was relocated to Ontario, Canada, at the age of 3. Sheattended North Toronto High School where she was awarded the Dramatic Arts Award.Amanda studied drama at the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Arts inWindsor, Ontario. After graduation, she spent four more years studying theater andappearing in several stage productions. However, her real success came in 1997 withthe start of the TV series "Stargate SG-1" where she plays Lt. Colonel SamanthaCarter. Amanda Co-Founded the Canadian comedy group "Random Acts" and is aspokesperson for UNICEF. She has three brothers, one of which is her twin. OnSeptember 23, 1994 she married Alan Kovacs, and a daughter, Olivia B. Kovacs, wasborn on March 22, 2005.
