Anthony Mackie (born 1979 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is an American actor.

Mackie has been featured in fourteen films, three television series and acted in several Broadway and Off-Broadway plays, including Talk by Carl Hancock Rux for which he won an Obie award in 2002.

He appeared in Eminem's movie 8 Mile as Papa Doc and with Denzel Washington in the remake of The Manchurian Candidate.

A graduate of Juilliard School, Mackie has worked as an understudy for Jeffrey Wright and Don Cheadle in Suzan-Lori Parks play Top Dog Under Dog. The first real chance for Mackie to emerge as a star was taking the leading role, in the critically panned Spike Lee film She Hate Me. Since then, Mackie has worked with Morgan Freeman in Clint Eastwood's Oscar Winning best picture, Million Dollar Baby, and was featured strongly at the Sundance Film Festival, co-starring with Ryan Gosling in Half Nelson. Mackie was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award in 2004 for his starring role in Brother to Brother.

He also attended NOCCA (New Orleans Center for Creative Arts)
