Bruce Manning Biography

American author Bruce Manning came to Hollywood when his novel Party Wire was filmed by Columbia in 1935. The following year, Manning joined Universal, where he scripted several high-grossing Deanna Durbin musicals. In 1941, he was promoted to producer, overseeing such Universal prestige items as Back Street (1941) and Broadway (1942). He took a one-time-only flyer at directing in 1943, helming the Deanna Durbin starrer The Amazing Mrs. Holliday. Active until 1952, Bruce Manning worked as producer and screenwriter for a variety of studios, including RKO, Paramount, Columbia and Republic. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
