Caroline Thompson (born in Washington, DC) is a screenwriter and film director. She has written the screenplay for three of Tim Burton's films, Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas and most recently Corpse Bride. She also co-wrote the story for Edward Scissorhands and recently co-adapted a new stage version of the film with director and choreographer Matthew Bourne.
Her other works include Snow White for Hallmark, starring Miranda Richardson and Kristin Kreuk, The Secret Garden, Buddy, Black Beauty, Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey,and The Addams Family.
From the above, she directed Snow White, Black Beauty and Buddy. She was also the producer for Snow White and the assiocate producer for The Secret Garden and Edward Scissorhands. One of her scripts, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer is due for release in 2006.
She once dated Danny Elfman and is currently seeing producer Steve Nicholaides. She lives in Ojai, California.
