Christian Frei (b. 1959) is a Swiss filmmaker. He is mostly known for his two films War Photographer (2001) and The Giant Buddhas (2005). Both deal with topics and themes more or less linked to war and intolerance.
Born in 1959, in Schönenwerd, Switzerland, Christian Frei studied visual media in the Department of Journalism and Communication at Freiburg University. He made his first documentary, Die Stellvertreterin (The Representative) in 1981. Since 1984 he has been working as an independent filmmaker. He also works regularly with the Swiss National German-speaking television, the Schweizer Fernsehen DRS.
