Five Favorite Films with Daniel Radcliffe
![]()
"It's actually a thrill to be talking about something else," Daniel Radcliffe chuckles, pausing to consider a question about his new movie The Woman in Black. He is, of course, referring to the ubiquitous presence of a certain blockbuster franchise that has consumed almost half of his life on the planet. Radcliffe was just an untested 11-year-old when cast as the eponymous hero of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone way back in 2001; now, having triumphantly wrapped the series with last year's Deathly Hallows, he's a seasoned 22 and ready to spirit himself into the realm that lies beyond Hogwarts. Audiences will have their chance to see Radcliffe's transformation (and marvel at his dashing new accoutrements) when The Woman in Black opens in theaters this week. In the meantime, we asked him to talk through his all-time five favorite films.

Box Office Guru Preview: Prince's Magic to Reign Over Multiplexes
![]()
All eyes are on those teen wizards. After a two-year wait, fans are finally getting their chance to return to Hogwarts for another year of magical fun with the Wednesday launch of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the sixth installment in the wildly successful eight-film fantasy series. No studio has dared to challenge Warner Bros. this weekend as the sequel stands as the only new wide release on the marquees. Following the last two PG-13 installments, Prince carries a more commercially-friendly PG rating and features more humor and romance which could allow the pic to reach a more mainstream audience and score points with younger females.

RT Interview: David Yates on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
![]()
When David Yates was hired to direct Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, fans took one look at his TV-heavy resume and panicked that he wouldn't be able to bring the same scale to the franchise that previous directors Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral), Alfonso Cuaron (A Little Princess) and Chris Columbus (Home Alone) had managed with aplomb. If the resulting feature didn't settle those minds -- and it largely did -- then Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince most certainly will. On its day of release the film is one of the best reviewed of the year, and certainly the best-reviewed Potter film. RT sat down with David Yates on set to learn more.

RT Interview: Daniel Radcliffe on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
![]()
19 year-old Daniel Radcliffe wants the world to know he's a grown-up now. It's tough to walk past a magazine stand on the eve of the release of the sixth Harry Potter film without seeing him trying to look as different as possible from the wide-eyed boy wizard who brought him fame. It's no surprise, as with only two of the blockbusting fantasy films left to release, he's more determined than ever to keep on acting when they finally call "cut" at Leavesden Studios. His turns on stage with Equus and TV with My Boy Jack send the message that he wants to be taken seriously beyond Potter, but most feature pieces seem to miss just how seriously he takes the franchise itself.

RT Visits the Set of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
![]()
As RT is brought into Leavesden Studios, past a pair of workmen poring over blueprints for a large, conical tower with a tall spire roof, the sense that we're entering a slightly different world than the one we're used to is immediately evident. Through a pair of unassuming white doors on the side of a nondescript warehouse to the north-west of London we're lead into the heart of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and, indeed, the whole Harry Potter universe. Join us as we take a look inside the world of Potter and go behind the scenes on the new film.

Tomatometer Watch: How Good is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince?
![]()
The Harry Potter franchise gets its sixth film adaptation next week, and early buzz on the wizarding saga is... fantastically fresh! As Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and Co. experience the first tremors of teenage love -- and all the hormonal shifts that come with puberty, (Hog)warts and all -- the battle between good and evil is also heating up. Can Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and returning helmer David Yates withstand the series' growing pains? By the looks of things, Half-Blood Prince not only might maintain the franchise's track record of Certified Freshness (all five previous installments won the honor), it may also conjure up the best reviews of the entire series. As a wizard might say, "Merlin's Beard!"

Exclusive: Lesbian Vampire Killers - RT on Set
![]()
There are a few things that you want to do in life," says James Corden. "Work with Mathew Horne, kiss Harry Potter, and make films about lesbian vampires." His work with Horne is well documented in the critically-acclaimed Gavin & Stacey, and his encounter with Potter star Daniel Radcliffe on stage at last year's Whatsonstage Theatre Awards is all over the web. RT has travelled to 3 Mills Studio in the east end of London to watch him, and Horne, get to grips with that third ambition on the set of Lesbian Vampire Killers. On a soundstage at the back of the lot we're in an overgrown forest locale, replete with vines choking stone sarcophagi, which are strewn about the site like they've grown wild. With us, amongst the workmen and technicians that usually populate a film set, are 12-15 women dressed so scantily in semi-transparent silk that they may as well be naked.
