Daryl Haney (b. June 21, 1963) is an American actor and screenwriter. Born in Charlottesville, Virginia, he moved to New York City as a teenager to study acting and soon came to the attention of Salter Street Films, then casting their first feature film, Self-Defense. A veteran of Off-Off-Broadway theatre, Haney relocated to Los Angeles to appear in a movie for producer Roger Corman. With no script, Haney wrote one, which led to an unsought career as a screenwriter. Within weeks, he’d been hired to write Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood, despite his claim never to have seen a Friday the 13th movie. He continued to work for Corman, as well as other low budget and independent producers, eventually accumulating more than twenty feature film writing credits, which may well constitute a latter-day record. Destitute, reputedly due to a near-fatal auto accident, Haney supported himself for a period by writing for a number of softcore television programmes. As an actor, he starred in two films in Yugoslavia, in addition to a handful of American productions.
