Five Favorite Films With Billy Ray Cyrus
Art imitates life (and vice versa) in Hannah Montana: The Movie, in which teen idol Miley Cyrus stars as the titular character, a 16-year-old A-list celebrity desperately trying to balance stardom with her normal life. That normal life is her "real" life as Miley Stewart, a high schooler whose pop identity is only known to family and friends and who is about to get a wake-up call in the form of an extended stay in the homegrown Tennessee countryside where she grew up, courtesy of dad Robby Ray Stewart (played by Miley's real-life father, country music star-turned-actor Billy Ray Cyrus). RT talked to the elder Cyrus about his favorite films, his transition from "Achy Breaky Heart" recording artist to Hollywood thespian, and how he credits David Lynch (and a letter from Johnny Cash) with helping daughter Miley become the teen entertainment phenomenon that she is today.

Dune Headed Back to the Big Screen?
They've captivated the imaginations of untold sci-fi fans for decades, but even as the inhabitants of Frank Herbert's Dune books have expanded their reach to encompass videogames, comics, posthumous prequels and sequels, and TV miniseries, a truly satisfactory film adaptation has remained out of reach. According to CHUD, all that may be about to change.

Watch out, Tom Cruise -- Brooke Shields is bringing out the big guns. In an open letter published Friday in the New York Times, the actress called out her recent nemesis and "Endless Love" co-star for ranting against her use of anti-depressants following the birth of her daughter.

David Lynch is Oddly Secretive About His New "EMPIRE"
Notoriously offbeat filmmaker David Lynch ("Mulholland Dr.") has apparently been working on his next film ... for the past two years! "INLAND EMPIRE" (yes, in all caps) will star Laura Dern ("Jurassic Park"), Harry Dean Stanton ("Escape from New York"), Jeremy Irons ("Dead Ringers"), Justin Theroux ("Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle"), and a few others whom Lynch opts not to name.

Two Sci-Fi Cult Classics to Get the Special Edition Treatment
The fantastic DVD site Digital Bits brings news of two in-the-works DVDs that should please the sci-fi enthusiasts: first off, DB confirms that a Special Edition DVD of Mike Hodges' "Flash Gordon" is most definitely on the way. (Image Entertainment once released a so-so treatment on DVD, but it's long since out-of-print.) No confirmed specs just yet, but it's still great news for all the "Flash Gordon" geeks. (Like me.)
