David J. Samuels, a Political Science professor at the University of Minnesota, earned his PhD at the University of California at San Diego in 1998. Over his career, he has published articles in many of the field's top journals, and is the author of Ambition, Federalism, and Legislative Politics in Brazil (Cambridge University Press, 2003). Samuels specializes in Comparative Politics.
In addition to Brazilian politics, he has also done published articles on political institutions in Middle Eastern countries. These works, including â??Separation of Powers,â?? in the Oxford Handbook of Comparative Politics, are considered by many scientists to be an important contribution to Middle Eastern political science.
