Emilie de Ravin, whose first name is pronounced like "Emily" and her surname like "ravine", (born December 27, 1981) (also http://mobile.channel4.com/mobile-portal/microsites/L/lost/claire_littleton.xml) is an Australian actress. She is known for starring in the hit ABC drama Lost as the character Claire Littleton.
Biography
Early life
De Ravin was born in Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia (a south suburb of Melbourne). Having studied ballet since the age of nine, she was accepted into the highly selective Australian Ballet School at fifteen. There, she performed in productions with the Australian Ballet Company as well as Danceworld 301. De Ravin studied acting at Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art, and with the Prime Time Actors Studio in Los Angeles.
Career
She first starred in Beast Master. De Ravin was previously best known for her role as alien/human hybrid Tess Harding on the teen drama Roswell. She landed this role one month after moving to Los Angeles at the age of 18.
Personal life
On January 1, 2005, de Ravin became engaged to actor Josh Janowicz while visiting her family in Australia. They married in a small ceremony on June 19, 2006 in Melbourne, Australia. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California with Josh, and spends most of the year commuting back and forth between Oahu, Hawaii where Lost is filmed.
