Five Favorite Films with Ewan McGregor
In addition to being immeasurably charming, the rather talented Ewan McGregor has been a mainstay of interesting performances on film for the better part of two decades now. In this week's Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, McGregor takes up the piscatorial mantle of one Dr. Alfred Jones, a Scottish fisheries boffin reluctantly convinced by an angling-enthused sheik (Amr Waked) and his feisty investment adviser (Emily Blunt) to assist them in their crazy desert scheme. Not too many actors can wear a khaki fishing vest and make it look good, but then not too many actors get away with impersonating Sir Alec Guinness, either. We spoke to McGregor recently about the movie, during which time he was also happy to talk about some of his favorite films. Read on for more of the interview.

Five Favorite Films with Emily Blunt
Emily Blunt arrived proper for most audiences as Meryl Streep's sarcastic, binge-dieting assistant in The Devil Wears Prada -- in which she stole many a scene from the Oscar legend -- and since then has proved a versatile star across all kinds of genres, be they comedy, drama, sci-fi and most things in between. This week, Blunt co-stars opposite Ewan McGregor in Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, director Lasse Hallström's picturesque comedy-drama about a fisheries expert enlisted by an eccentric sheik to bring a river to the Arabian desert. We had the chance to speak with the actress recently about the movie, her friendship with McGregor, and some of her forthcoming projects. Cannes 2009: The Tomato Report ? Almodovar's Broken Embraces a Comfortable Favourite
Pedro Almodovar is a firm favourite in Cannes, so it's no surprise to see his new film Broken Embraces receiving largely positive reviews from the assembled critics. The director's first foray into film noir territory since Bad Education half a decade ago, the movie stars long-time collaborator Penelope Cruz as a beautiful actress who owes her career to her elderly millionaire lover, and Screen Daily's Barry Byrne calls it "a sleek post-Oscar vehicle" for the star. Byrne also writes that it will satisfy admirers of the director's work. "Fans of Almodovar will get plenty of what they expect here - rich saturated colours, hyper plotting, stylistic pyrotechnics and off-centre comedy."

Cannes 2009: George Clooney to Play Assassin
There's a double dose of George Clooney news that's emerged at Cannes yesterday. Firstly, Variety reports that the greying star has signed on to topline A Very Private Gentleman -- an adaptation of the Martin Booth novel -- which will be directed by Control helmer Anton Corbijn. The Cloon will play an assassin who hides out in a rustic Italian town before carrying out a final, murderous assignment. Against his better judgement, the cold-hearted killer starts to make friends and becomes entangled in a romantic relationship.

"The Fog" Sweeps Into Box Office First Place

Box Office: Michael Bay Haters Rejoice - The Island Sinks
Michael Bay haters (I'm not one of them) can cherish this weekend. His newest explosion-fest, The Island, bombed at the box office with an estimated $4.4M on Friday, according to Showbizdata. It took the third spot behind last Friday's chart toppers, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Wedding Crashers. For the weekend, The Island will likely gross $12-14M, making it the worst debut for a Michael Bay film. His average opening for his last five films is an explosive $36M. His last five films also have a spectacular average gross of $147M; The Island, which has a production budget of $120M, will be lucky to make a third of that.

Box Office: "Robots" Follows "Ice Age" with Second Best March Opening Ever
20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios, which produced the critical and box office hit ?Ice Age,? score again with their second collaboration ?Robots.? It topped the box office with an estimated $36.5M over the weekend. It didn?t break the March opening record of $46.3M set by their previous film ?Ice Age,? but it did come in second best. It looks like this is the month for Fox and Blue Sky to launch their animated collaborations. This strong opening also establishes Blue Sky as the third successful animation studio, following Pixar (?The Incredibles?) and PDI (?Shrek?).

Could "Episode III" Score a PG-13 Rating?
In preparation for their "60 Minutes" interview with filmmaker George Lucas, CBS News shares a tip that "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" may indeed be rated PG-13. "I don't think I would take a 5- or a 6-year-old to this," says Lucas, "It's way too strong..."(The film) is much more dark...more emotional. It's much more of a tragedy.
