Frankie Muniz Aims to "Stay Alive"!

The Hollywood Reporter brings news of a rather drastic career switch for the young Frankie Muniz. Known throughout the universe as "Malcolm in the Middle" (or perhaps as "Agent Cody Banks"), Mr. Muniz went in a different direction when he signed on for "Stay Alive." The movie "follows a group of young friends in New Orleans who reconnect for the funeral of a friend who died while playing a video game called 'Stay Alive.'" Starring alongside Frankie will be Jon Foster ("The Door in the Floor"), and Samaire Armstrong ("Not Another Teen Movie").

According to Showbizdata, Coach Carter starring Samuel L. Jackson won the top spot at the box office on Friday, January 15th, finally unseating Meet the Fockers three week reign. With $8.3M on Friday, Coach Carter will gross between $33-35M for Friday-Monday MLK weekend. This is his best opening for movies in which he has top billing. His previous best was Shaft's $21.7M debut. Get Carter has a Fresh 64% on the Tomatometer.
