Total Recall: Weird Post-Oscar Roles

This Friday, the martial arts western The Warrior's Way saunters into theaters, offering one of the most delightfully unhinged genre mashups we've seen in some time -- and boasting an incredible cast that includes South Korean superstar Jang Dong-gun, Kate Bosworth, Danny Huston, and Oscar winner Geoffrey Rush. Once we rubbed our eyes and blinked a few times to make sure we weren't reading those names wrong, we got to thinking about other unexpected choices made by Academy-approved actors, and before we knew it, we had a whole Total Recall full of them. Bloody-Disgusting.com (arguably the best horror site out there) is reporting that Dark Castle Entertainment (the guys behind "Ghost Ship," "Gothika," and "House of Wax") are planning to make a movie called "Return to House on Haunted Hill," which (of course) is a sequel to "House on Haunted Hill," which (of course) is a remake of "House on Haunted Hill."

Say what you will about that Steven Spielberg guy, but he sure is one efficient (and prolific) filmmaker. As if having one of the year's most talked-about blockbusters ("War of the Worlds") wasn't enough, the master movie-maker is intent on getting his historical drama "Munich" into theaters before the end of the year. This trailer is a good indication that he'll make that deadline.

Citing a scheduling conflict, Nicole Kidman has bowed out of Mel Brooks' big-screen adaptation of the Broadway musical "The Producers." Her rep tells Variety that she "wouldn't have enough time to rehearse the intricate song and dance routines in 'The Producers' before she heads into her next film, the Oz-set 'Eucalyptus,' opposite fellow Aussies Russell Crowe and Geoffrey Rush."
