George Grizzard (b. April 1, 1928, in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina) is a film and Broadway actor. Grizzard has appeared in over 40 films and dozens of television programs. He appeared in Advise and Consent in 1962, as well as guest starring several times on the NBC television drama Law & Order.
Grizzard played John Adams in the four emmy award winning WNET Channel 13 (PBS New York City) produced mini-series The Adams Chronicles (1976).
Grizzard made his Broadway debut in The Desperate Hours in 1955. He has been a frequent and distinguished interpreter of the plays of Edward Albee, having appeared in the original production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1962), the 1996 revival of A Delicate Balance, and the 2005 revival of Seascape. He won the Tony Award for Best Actor in 1996 for A Delicate Balance.
