Golden Ameda Brooks (born December 1, 1975 in San Francisco, California) is an American actress.
Brooks has been featured in many films and television shows, and has appeared alongside actors such as Queen Latifah, Vivica A. Fox and Kevin Bacon. Currently, she plays Maya Wilkes (Joan's sharp-tongued secretary and now acclaimed author) on the CW sitcom, Girlfriends.
Before becoming an actress, Golden Brooks studied literature and sociology at UC Berkeley and earned her Master's degree at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York.
Trivia
- On Girlfriends, Golden's character of Maya is several years younger than the other "girlfriends" Joan, Toni, and Lynn.
On an episode of Moesha in 2000, Brooks plays her Girlfriends character. There will soon be a spinoff of Girlfriends involving Tia Mowry. The spinoff's name is The Game, which, like Girlfriends, will be aired on the newly founded CW.
