Although Jerry Bresler's Oscar and subsequent two other nominations were for his two-reel short films, he was primarily a songwriter, one of his most famous compositions being 'Five Guys Named Moe'.
He was educated at the Chicago Musical College, DePaul University and New York University (NYU). At the age of 14, he conducted his first orchestra, and was soon conducting for radio and television programmes.
