John Allen Nelson (born August 28, 1959 in San Antonio, Texas) is an American actor.

Early Life

John Allen Nelson was born on August 28, 1959 in San Antonio, Texas. From one year old to three years old, he spent his life in Germany with his three siblings, David, Nancy and Diana where his father was stationed as a doctor for the U.S. Air Force. His family then lived in South Georgia for quite a long time until he moved to Texas in order to study medicine at the Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

Career

After three years of study he realized that he rather wanted to stand before television cameras than in the operating room and went to New York for one year to study acting at the "Joanne Woodward's Actor's Workshop" which he is a founding member of. He was discovered for the soap opera "Santa Barbara" and became a firm cast member from 1984-86. Then he decided to push his movie career forward and left the series to make his first film, "Hunk", in 1987, closely followed by "Saigon Commandos", the cult classic Killer Klowns from Outer Space and "Deathstalker III". He also appeared in the pilot of Quantum Leap. But as yet his most memorable role is John D. Cort in season one of Baywatch. He had guest starrings in four later episodes and wrote the script for "Deep Trouble". Nelson had his first big success with his role of Walt Cummings in 24, he then got the role of Senator Jeffrey Collins in the Fox drama Vanished.

Personal Life

Nelson married Åsi Nelson in 1988, but they divorced in 2005, and his two children -son Axel (b.1990) and daughter Linea (b.1994) - live with their mother in Sweden. He is now dating actress Justine Eyre.
