Lance Mungia is an American screenwriter and film director.


Work and Films


Mungia is best known for the film Six String Samurai, a multiple award-winning indie film that, despite a limited nationwide theatrical release by Palm Pictures, became an indie cult success upon DVD release. Although the film only played for a few weeks in Los Angeles, it played between six and eight months straight at theaters in Seattle, Austin, and other spots around the country, and, after premiering at Slamdance toured major international film festivals such as Toronto and St. Louis.

In 2005 Mungia co-wrote and directed The Crow: Wicked Prayer for Dimension Films. The film starred Edward Furlong, David Boreanaz, Dennis Hopper, Danny Trejo and Macy Gray.

Mungia also wrote and directed the multiple award winning short film Garden For Rio. Garden For Rio was produced at Loyola Marymount University, Lance's film school at the time.

Mungia has also directed multiple music videos, including "She's So High" by Tal Bachman, Citizen King, The Mavericks and many others.
