Mario Van Peebles (b. January 15, 1957 in Mexico City, Mexico) is an American actor and director who has starred in numerous films. He is the son of writer, director, and actor Melvin Van Peebles and German actress Maria Marx.

His 2004 biopic BAADASSSSS! describes the making of his father's influential Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song.

He graduated from Columbia University in 1978 with a Bachelors Degree in Economics.
