Mark Hamill Trivia

Mark Hamill was injured in a car wreck between filming Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back. His face was badly scarred, and the option to recast the role of Luke Skywalker was considered. Hamill's face healed sufficiently to allow him to proceed with the role, but the scene on Hoth where Luke is attacked and captured by the ice monster was written in part to help explain the noticeable scarring on Hamill's face.
