Masato Harada (å??ç?°ç??人 Harada Masato, alt. å??ç?°ç??人 Harada Masato, born July 3, 1949 in Numazu, Shizuoka) is a Japanese film director, critic, and sometimes an actor; he is best known to Western audiences as Omura in The Last Samurai. It is interesting to note that in both of the films he has so far acted, his characters look and act essentially identical â?? a bespectacled antagonistic Japanese meiji-era governmental figure who embraces western customs at the expense of the traditional Japanese way-of-life.
