Melinda McGraw (born 1968-10-25 in Nicosia) is an American actress. Her father served as a diplomat for the Agency of International Development under the Kennedy administration.
McGraw grew up in the Boston area where she got her start in acting with Boston Children's Theater. She moved on to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London and began her career in the late 1980s. Although she starred in 1998's Wrongfully Accused and 2000's Nutty Professor II: The Klumps, she is better known for her television performances.
Her first major role was as Detective Cyd "Cydavia" Madison on The Commish from 1992 to 1994. While on the set, she met actor Nicholas Lea and the pair dated for a few years. McGraw later played Dana Scully's ill-fated sister Melissa in four episodes of The X-Files (One Breath, The Blessing Way, Paper Clip and Christmas Carol). Coincidentally, Nicholas Lea featured on that show as the recurring antagonist Alex Krycek.
McGraw also starred in Soul Man (1997-98), Wednesday 9:30 (8:30 Central) (2002) and Center of the Universe (2004). Her notable guest appearances include Quantum Leap, Seinfeld (she claims to be Jerry's first on-screen kiss), Cybill, Mad About You, The Larry Sanders Show, The District and The Practice.
More recently, McGraw played Annabel Foster in four episodes of the hit series Desperate Housewives (2005). She was also part of the cast of Neighbors, a pilot ordered by ABC for 2005-06 which was not picked up, and appeared in the series Inconceivable (2005), which was cancelled after two episodes. In 2006, she had a recurring role as Jane Braun, campaign advisor to Presidential candidate Arnold Vinick, on The West Wing.
Melinda married artist Steve Pierson on 2000-10-14, and has one daughter.
