Michael Jace (born July 13, 1965) is an African-American actor, from Los Angeles, California. He is well known for his current role as L.A.P.D. Officer Julien Lowe on the FX hit drama The Shield, which in 2006 is now in its fifth season.
For a large proportion of his career Michael appeared in small roles on popular TV shows such as Nash Bridges, L.A. Law, Law & Order, ER and the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "The Jem'Hadar". He also had just as small roles on high profile films like Forrest Gump and Boogie Nights. It wasn't until The Shield came along that Michael finally got his big break in the television and film industry.
On The Shield he plays officer Julien Lowe - a central and gay character. From the first season he started out as an apprentice-of-types to his superior officer Danielle Sofer. As he gained notoriety working in 'The Barn' Julien faced a moral dilemma; as a religious man he felt he should ignore and fight his homosexual feelings, but on occasion he was broken. His character is now currently married and he is a much more accomplished police officer, even training his own apprentice - Tina.
Michael has just finished work on a prison football movie with Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson titled Gridiron Gang.
