Smallville Writers Enroll in Monster High
Writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar ("Smallville") have been signed to write the script for "Monster High," a Universal project based on a Mattel toy line about the high school experiences of the children of monsters such as Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Wolfman.

Brendan Fraser In For "Mummy 3" Sequel
Word on the web says Brendan Fraser is on board for a second sequel to 1999's "The Mummy," to be filmed sometime next year -- with new writers, an unsigned director, and no sign yet of co-stars Rachel Weisz and Oded Fehr.

"Iron Man" Screenplay = Good Enough?
The movie freaks over at Latino Review (apparently) got a peek at the screenplay for New Line's eventual "Iron Man" flick, as written by genre specialists Alfred Gough, Miles Millar, and David Hayter. Since I refuse to ever read a script review, I can't offer much commentary, but the LR guys give the screenplay a grade of B- (or "good enough"), which would make it better than "Fantastic Four," at least.

Aquaman Swims Into His Own WB Series
OK, so it's not exactly movie news, but it's about Aquaman, so I figure it's geeky enough to warrant mentioning. "Smallville" fans will recall that a young version of the Aquaman character appeared on the series a few weeks ago, and apparently someone at the WB was impressed with what he saw. "Smallville" creators Miles Millar & Alfred Gough have since been tapped to bring an all-new Aquaman series to network TV.

For two years an "Iron Man" languished over at New Line, but the rights to the character have recently reverted back to the Marvel-eers, and uber-producer Avi Arad seems pretty excited about getting the adaptation ramped up at home.
