Orla Brady (born March 28, 1966 in Dublin) is an Irish actress who appeared in the short-lived American television series Family Law. Otherwise, she has appeared in Irish and British movies and TV programmes, including and especially the BBC's A Love Divided as "Sheila Cloney".
A Love Divided was about a real-life mixed-religion couple (Sean and Sheila Cloney) in 1950s southern Ireland, and a clerically supported economic boycott by the majority Roman Catholic community against the small Protestant community in Fethard-on-Sea, County Wexford, Ireland, after a Protestant mother moves away with her children in a family dispute (where to educate their daughters). The Catholic community was encouraged to regard the situation as a "kidnapping" of the children to deny them a Catholic upbringing.
When asked her personal opinion of the matter, Ms. Brady, who stated that she had been raised Catholic, but was not a practising one, agreed that the Ne Temere was to blame and that it had helped to seriously decrease the size of the Protestant community in southern Ireland.
