Peter Gilbert (born 31 July 1983, Newcastle upon Tyne) is an English footballer with Welsh nationality who is currently playing for Sheffield Wednesday F.C. after joining from Leicester City.
He joined Leicester in July 2005 from Plymouth Argyle where he had originally signed on loan from Brimingham City at the start of the 2003-04 season. The young fullback soon proved himself to be as reliable as they come. As soon as he settled, he was one of the first names on the team sheet and performed impressively throughout Argyle's Second Division Championship winning season.
Gilbert joined Sheffield Wednesday in January 2006 from Championship rivals Leicester City, after impressing during a six week loan at the club. He had previously worked under Sheffield Wednesday's current manager Paul Sturrock at former club Plymouth.
He has been capped on several occasions by Wales at under-21 level.
