Happy Madison Developing Remake of The Toy

There's a new addition to the growing list of old movies getting remade: The Toy, a 1982 Richard Pryor vehicle about a rich kid who buys a black man to play with. Writer Tom Brady (The Hot Chick, The Animal) is at work on the script for Adam Sandler's Happy Madison production company.

Richard Pryor Passes Away at 65

Richard Pryor passed away yesterday morning, and while he's probably best remembered for his incendiary stand-up material (as evidenced in 1979's "Live in Concert," 1982's "Live on the Sunset Strip," and 1983's "Here and Now") and his also-incendiary battle with an exploding freebase pipe, I'll always remember the guy as one of my favorite move-time comedians. And I know I'm not alone with that opinion.

Mike Epps to Play Richard Pryor in Upcoming Biopic

Low-key funnyman Mike Epps ("Next Friday," "The Honeymooners") has been tapped to portray legendary comedian Richard Pryor ("Stir Crazy") in an upcoming bio flick, according to Variety. Veteran filmmaker Walter Hill ("The Warriors") will direct the as-yet-untitled film, and he'll be working from a screenplay by Caleb Kane.
