Ron White (born December 18, 1956) is an American stand-up comedian from Fritch, Texas. He is a member of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, which helped elevate White to star status following the original Blue Collar tour and DVD release. White is the only member of the Blue Collar crew not to star in the Blue Collar TV series because he didn't want to be typecast as "blue collar", although he says in his performances he simply doesn't have the work ethic for a television show. He has made seven guest appearances on the show, however. In 2005, The WB Network aired the pilot for The Ron White Show, an ill-fated variety show that combined a number of celebrity cameos, cartoons, and sketches.
White has said in some of his stand-up that he was primarily raised by his grandmother from when he was 9 until he entered his teenage years. He has also said that when he returned from fighting in the Vietnam War, he developed a serious drug problem, was put on probation, got clean, and then went on to be a public speaker in high schools about the dangers of drug abuse.
White married Jeff Foxworthy's interior designer, Barbara, in 2004. In You Can't Fix Stupid, he says their honeymoon was on a cruise ship.
White is known for wearing all-black outfits, smoking cigars or cigarettes while onstage, and drinking scotch whisky during his act. At one point, when asked what brand of whisky he drinks, he replies that "When they start paying me, I'll start saying what brand it is, how d'you like that?" However, he has disclosed that he drinks The Blue Label from Johnnie Walker, as shown in Blue Collar Comedy Tour: One For the Road, the most recent Blue Collar show. This is supported by his comment in You Can't Fix Stupid that it is the kind of scotch that is "drunken by people that are going to die penniless" (as Blue Label is a very expensive brand, well over $100 US per bottle depending on the seller). Also on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno he admits he drinks too much and, apparently, his limo driver found out when 'he gotta yak, that don't mean he got a long-haired buffalo living in his backyard.'
Besides the Blue Collar Comedy Tour CDs and movies, White has released five solo projects to date:
As well has also appeared on the following Compilation albums
