Rory Elizabeth Katherine Kennedy (born December 12, 1968) is the youngest of the eleven children of U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy and Ethel Skakel Kennedy.
Rory's life has been filled with personal and family tragedy. Her father was assassinated six months before she was born. In 1984, her brother, David, died of a drug overdose. In 1997, another of her siblings, Michael, died in a skiing accident. She was the one who tried to revive him with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
In 1999, her cousin John F. Kennedy, Jr. and his wife, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy; and his wife's sister Lauren Bessette died in a plane crash en route to her wedding, which was originally scheduled for July 17, the day after the crash. The wedding was postponed, and a considerably scaled-down ceremony was held two weeks later.
She married Mark Bailey on August 2, 1999. They have two daughters: Georgia Elizabeth Kennedy-Bailey, born in September 2002, and Bridget Kennedy-Bailey, born in July 2004.
She is an award-winning documentary film-maker and producer. She has formed production companies with fellow alumae of Brown University. The first company she founded was with Vanessa Vadim in the 1990's called May Day Media based in Washington, D. C. Kennedy-Bailey and Liz Garbus later formed a company called Moxie Firecracker Films, Inc. Kennedy Bailey also advocates for several social activism organizations.
