Sam Raimi Talks "Hobbit" and Dunst Discusses "Spidey 4"

It's been a while since we first heard that "Spider-Man" director Sam Raimi could be in line to direct "The Hobbit" for New Line -- and now the director has actually spoken about the possibility. In other news, Kirsten Dunst says a "Spider-Man 4" without her or Raimi or Tobey Maguire would "flop."

New Line Chief Really Dislikes Peter Jackson!

Wow, things are getting a little nasty around that Peter Jackson / New Line / "The Hobbit" / lawsuit story. New Line Cinema chief Bob Shaye recently spoke pretty candidly regarding his feelings for the man who gave him the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Basically, Pete's not welcome around New Line anymore.

So Peter Jackson is definitely OUT as director of "The Hobbit." And then MGM and producer Saul Zaentz chime and say "well, maybe not." Meanwhile every movie site on the planet is grasping at the newest and most hopeful "Hobbit" news they can. Leave it to the New York Times to get us all up to speed.

Owner of Tolkien Titles Chimes in on Jackson Controversy

Movie producer Saul Zaentz (aka The Guy Who Owns the Movie Rights to "Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit") has made his opinions known regarding the future of the "Hobbit" movie -- and the guy seems strangely confident that director Peter Jackson WILL be returning for that particular gig.

New Line and Producer Zaentz "Ring" Out a Settlement

According to Variety, Producer Saul Zaentz will receive about $20 million from New Line Cinema (on top of the $168 million he earned from the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy), thereby ending a lawsuit before it goes to trial. So that's nearly $190 million bucks for the 84-year-old Mr. Zaentz; not too shabby considering he didn't actually produce the "Lord of the Rings" movies.

Bardem & Portman to Discover "Goya's Ghosts"

Javier Bardem ("Before Night Falls") and Natalie Portman ("Closer") are in final talks to star in the bio-pic "Goya's Ghosts," says Variety. The long-discussed cinematic biography of the famous Spanish artist Francisco Goya will be produced by Saul Zaentz ("The Mosquito Coast") and directed by Milos Forman ("Amadeus").
