Stephen Gaghan Chases Dead Spy Running

Warner Bros. has hired Stephen Gaghan to write the screenplay for its McG-directed adaptation of John Stock's "Dead Spy Running," a thriller that "aims to reinvent the spy genre by telling the origin story of a newly trained spy in a tone that mixes the grittiness of 'The Bourne Identity' with the wittiness of John Le Carre's oeuvre."

2005 Oscar Nominations Are In!

Like most pathetic movie geeks, I was up at the crack of dawn (ok, 8:30am eastern time) to see how my nomination prediction ballot would measure up. (I was perfect on all 20 acting nods and all 10 screenwriting nods, but I erroneously predicted that "Walk the Line" would get nominated over "Capote" for Best Picture, and I picked Croneberg for director over Benett Miller.) The Lion, the Witch, and the Very Impressive Weekend

Disney & Walden's "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" had a pretty fantastic opening weekend at the box office, pulling in just over $67 million from 3,600 theaters. "Narnia" became the #3 biggest opening of the year, behind only "Star Wars Episode 3" and "Harry Potter Episode 4."
