Cannes 2009: RT Interview - Sally Hawkins on We Want Sex

The Golden Globe seems to have done Sally Hawkins well. After winning the award for her part in Mike Leigh's hilarious Happy-Go-Lucky, having her name attached to any project seems to have become an instant arbiter of interest. As we meet with Hawkins in Cannes, where she's announcing her role in new film We Want Sex, due to start shooting soon, she's fielding interest from all the glossies as well as the usual selection of film mags and broadsheets -- a sure sign of a star in the making. The film, which is being directed by Calendar Girls' Nigel Cole (an RT fan, he tells us) and Brit producing favourite Stephen Woolley, is the tale of female workers in the Ford Dagenham plant in the late 60s.

RT-UK Exclusive: Stephen Woolley talks "How to Lose Friends..."

Stephen Woolley is one of the UK's most successful producers, with a string of credits to his name that include titles like "Interview with the Vampire", "The Crying Game", "Michael Collins" and "Little Voice." As a director he most recently delivered "Stoned", the Brian Jones biopic. RT-UK caught up with him recently at the Cannes Film Festival where he gave us the latest on the soon-to-shoot "How to Lose Friends and Alienate People" based on the book by journalist Toby Young.

RT-UK: MySpace Launches Moviemaking Experiment

It?s snowing heavily in London and for budding filmmakers across Britain it could be a sign that Christmas has come really, really early. Lifestyle portal MySpace announced last night that it had teamed up with Vertigo Films and Film Four to create MyMovie MashUp, a unique collaboration that?ll see the MySpace community in the UK get together to make a theatrically-distributed feature film.
