On June 24, 1999, Steve Gordon of California rode a unicycle backward for 68 miles at Southwestern Missouri State University, Springfield, Missouri, earning him the current Guinness World Record for Longest Backward Unicycle.

• Steve rode "Intense Hortense", a unicycle built by David Moore with a wheel diameter of 73 inches (185 cm).
  

• Moore also built "Large Marge" (66 inches), another large-wheel unicycle. Steve had the first ride on it on October 17, 1986.
