Miller-Boyett Productions was a production team consisting of Thomas L. Miller and Robert L. Boyett that mainly developed television sitcoms in the 1980s and 90s. It was responsible for family-oriented hit series such as Full House, Perfect Strangers and Family Matters.
Many of their shows had notable similarities. These include:
- Elaborate opening credit sequences with lyric-heavy theme songs
- Theme songs written by Jesse Frederick and Bennet Salvay
- A third act "lesson learned" scene, complete with dramatic music
- Fish out of water themes (e.g. a roughneck Italian from Brooklyn living in bucolic Connecticut, or an Eastern European with strange beliefs and customs living in Chicago.)
- Non-traditional families
- Inspiration from earlier classic sitcoms (e.g. the Laverne and Shirley-inspired Perfect Strangers and the Brady Bunch-inspired Step by Step)
Shows produced
- Bosom Buddies (1980-1982)
- The Hogan Family (1986-1991)
- Perfect Strangers (1986-1993)
- Full House (1987-1995)
- Family Matters (1989-1998)
- Going Places (1990-1991)
