Raimi Confirms Another "Spider-Man" Trilogy
With "Spider-Man 3" nearing its opening and the lead actors and director?s contracts up, the fate of a second trilogy, or even a fourth film, is up in the air. Look Out! Screenshots of "Spider-Man 3"
It won't arrive in theaters for more than three months, but the spoilers, interviews, and other assorted information regarding "Spider-Man 3" are already in full swing -- it's almost as if the studio was looking for free advance publicity or something. Spidey Heads to ... Cleveland.
IGN Filmforce carries some news from the AP, and it seems that the "Spider-Man 3" production is taking a quick side-journey to Cleveland, Ohio. Seems it's a lot cheaper to film there and, through the use of special effects, the city can be digitally altered to better replicate the NTC skyline. (Hey, at least they're not shooting in Vancouver.)

Topher Grace has joined the cast of "Spider-Man 3," it was announced by director Sam Raimi and producers Laura Ziskin and Marvel Studio's Avi Arad. Grace will join Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, and Thomas Haden Church in the blockbuster franchise. "Spider-Man 3" is scheduled for release on May 4, 2007, and will reunite returning cast members with director Sam Raimi and producers Ziskin and Arad, the successful filmmaking team responsible for the first two films.

Tobey Maguire Set to Deliver a "Tokyo Suckerpunch"
Sony Pictures has acquired the rights to Issac Adamson's "Tokyo Suckerpunch," and it looks like Tobey Maguire is in line for the lead role. Variety describes the plot in somewhat confusing fashion: "Novel's protag Billy Chaka writes a column that casts him as macho hero living in a surreal, amped-up Tokyo. When his book gets turned into a movie, Chaka flies to the city for the premiere and hates it enough to clash loudly with the director, who ends up murdered."

A press release plopped out of my inbox this morning, and here's the really short version: recent Oscar nominee Thomas Haden Church ("Sideways," "George of the Jungle") has been cast as the new villain for "Spider-Man 3," although the producers are apparently keeping tight wraps on who that villain will actually be.
