Over the last 25 years, he's completed three impossible missions, learned about Wapner time, and driven the highway to the danger zone -- and now it's time to refresh Tom Cruise's Total Recall in honor of the about-to-reach-theaters Rock of Ages, so we're here to look back at the best-reviewed films of his career. For a guy with so many movies to his name, Cruise has had remarkable good luck with critics, and by limiting ourselves to his 10 most critic-friendly efforts, we had to exclude a number of fan favorites (sorry, War of the Worlds and Last Samurai). Still, we think you'll find plenty of vintage Cruise on this list, culled from the years both before and after he became better known for abusing Oprah's furniture than his acting. Box Office Forecast: "Mission: Impossible III" Ignites Blockbuster Season
The summer movie marathon kicks off on Friday with the much-anticipated launch of the Tom Cruise spy sequel Mission: Impossible III which will easily dominate the worldwide box office. Two much smaller films will attempt to offer some counter-programming for those moviegoers not in the mood for globetrotting action. New Line unleashes the kid drama Hoot while Freestyle Releasing debuts its horror flick An American Haunting. Neither is expected to put a dent into the MI3 machine which looks to lead the industry to its best summer kickoff in three years.

"Iron Man" Screenplay = Good Enough?
The movie freaks over at Latino Review (apparently) got a peek at the screenplay for New Line's eventual "Iron Man" flick, as written by genre specialists Alfred Gough, Miles Millar, and David Hayter. Since I refuse to ever read a script review, I can't offer much commentary, but the LR guys give the screenplay a grade of B- (or "good enough"), which would make it better than "Fantastic Four," at least.

No, it didn't break any records ... but no, it didn't exactly underperform, either. No matter how you look at it, Steven Spielberg's "War of the Worlds" zapped a healthy chunk of change from our pockets during the July 4th weekend. Three-day frame: $64.5 million. Throw in the Monday holiday and the figure rises to $77.6 million. Toss the Wednesday opening and Thursday into the mix and you're looking at a "War" chest worth just over $113 million.

When Fox Cancelled "Firefly," it Started a Fire
The third round of advance "Serenity" screenings went on sale today and (again) sold out quickly - in just minutes at some theaters. The fans of Joss Whedon's cancelled TV show "Firefly" and the upcoming feature film version, "Serenity," are officially on the move. Cruise, Spielberg Talk "War of the Worlds"
Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg took some time off from their busy "War of the Worlds" shoot in Los Angeles to speak with the press about their forthcoming movie. In the interview, Speilberg revealed that wanted to make this movie 12 years ago, but lost interest when "Independence Day," as well as other "scavenger films ... that sort of picked the bones of H.G. Wells," came out.

Steven Spielberg is in talks with Liam Neeson to play the 16th president of the United States with plans to start production next January, Variety reports. War of the Worlds Set Report From Croton Point Park, NY
Ain't It Cool News has posted a set report from the "War of the Worlds" set in Croton Point Park, New York. While he only visited the set after shooting was completed (and took some pics with his cell phone), his friend was there and relayed what he saw. In one of the shots, "clothes scattered into the woods and on the playground being lit with orange light at night, with wind and smoke.
