Box Office Guru Preview: Travolta Faces Off With Denzel in 1 2 3
Two A-listers duke it out in North American multiplexes in the new action thriller The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 starring Denzel Washington and John Travolta which will challenge last weekend's top films Up and The Hangover for a three-way race to the number one spot. Eddie Murphy also joins the fun with his latest family comedy Imagine That which will try to enter the top five. Overall ticket sales should once again fall behind last year's numbers, only by a much wider margin this time.

Exclusive: Tony Scott talks Warriors
Tony Scott sat down with RT recently to discuss The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, but of course we couldn't leave him without taking about another remake on his agenda; The Warriors. Based on a novel by Sol Yurick, the 1979 original was written and directed by Walter Hill. "I'm not doing a straight remake," he insisted. "I love the original Warriors and I'm using the same basic story. It's really still 10 guys stuck at point B and they need to get back to point A. But I'm going to set it in Los Angeles and it's going to be a kind of study of gang culture in LA today."

Tony Scott and Denzel are Unstoppable
Their updated spin on "The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3" isn't even in theaters yet, but Denzel Washington and Tony Scott are already making plans for a fifth movie together -- "Unstoppable," which would feature Washington as "an experienced engineer who jumps in a locomotive with a young conductor to chase down a runaway train carrying a cargo of toxic chemicals."

Introduced in 1978, the award recognises an organisation or a person's career and influence on the British Film Industry. This year's recipient, announced today, is Pinewood/Shepperton, two of the British industry's most important film studios whose contribution to filmmaking has resulted in some of the greatest movies of all time. Adam Goldberg will join Denzel Washington and Jim Caviezel in "Deja Vu," according to the Hollywood Reporter. Goldberg will play a scientist in the movie, which is about an FBI agent, played by Washington, who goes back in time to save a woman from a murder.

"The Fog" Sweeps Into Box Office First Place
The third horror remake to hit the screens this year, Rupert Wainwright's "The Fog," beat down a pair of other newcomers to grab the top spot in a rather flimsy box office weekend. Remake of a well-remembered John Carpenter flick of the same name, "The Fog" grossed $12.2 in its opening frame, handily overtaking new movies by Cameron Crowe and Tony Scott.
