Five Favorite Films with Genesis Rodriguez
In the odd chance that you happened to be watching Mexican telenovelas sometime in the last five or six years, you may have locked eyes upon Genesis Rodriguez, a young actress who was a regular cast member on several shows before moving to Los Angeles for an arc on Entourage. You're also likely to enjoy her performance as Will Ferrell's absurdly radiant paramour in this week's Casa de mi Padre , a movie that riffs heavily on the telenovelas of Rodriguez's past. We sat down with Rodriguez for a chat last week, in which she reflected on working with Ferrell and his intentions behind playing a Mexican. Critics Consensus: The Other Guys Cops Big Laughs
This week at the movies, Will Ferrell reunites with director Adam McKay (Step Brothers, Talladega Nights) to get absurd on the buddy cop comedy (The Other Guys, co-starring Mark Wahlberg); street dancing busts a move into the third dimension (Step Up 3D); and the Internet becomes a haven for porn entrepreneurs (Middle Men). What do the critics have to say? With the exception of Step Brothers (mixed at 55%), the McKay-Ferrell comedies tend to be viewed among the best of the star's movies, and The Other Guys is following suit. Critics say the police comedy, which pairs Ferrell's bookkeeping detective with Wahlberg's hot-tempered cop, is a refreshingly solid comedy in a summer that's been largely devoid of them.

Moviegoers had football on their minds for the second straight weekend as Disney's true-life NFL tale "Invincible" remained atop the North American box office over the long Labor Day holiday weekend finishing off another summer movie season. New releases "Crank" and "The Wicker Man" opened in second and third, respectively, while the critically acclaimed films "Little Miss Sunshine" and "The Illusionist" both scored strong per-theater averages in moderate release. The holiday frame marked the first weekend in six long months where no new film debuted with at least $15M. Hollywood was happy to close the books on a summer movie season that was slightly better than than last year's.

Batman Rules the Box Office Roost
Debuting with very strong (albeit not staggering) box office numbers is the long-anticipated return of the Caped Crusader. Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins" handily hooked the #1 spot at the box office this weekend, hauling in just under $47 million over the three-day frame. Toss in the Wednesday and Thursday numbers and the new-fangled bat-flick stands with a fairly impressive five-day tally of $71.1 million.
