Biography:
Chase Whale's life changed when his sweet mother took him to see Terminator 2: Judgement Day at the tender age of eight. Since that day?while his friends were out chasing footballs and girls?he was renting the latest release or Van Damme masterpiece. Fast forward to 2007, Whale co-founded the little movie website that could (well, for four years), GordonandtheWhale.com. Through GATW, he covered Cannes, Sundance, SXSW, the Toronto International Film Festival, and Comic-Con, along with junkets in London, Toronto, and other parts of the world. GATW also gave Whale the opportunity to interview Harrison Ford, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Julianne Moore, Danny Boyle, Will Ferrell, Jason Reitman, Davis Guggenheim, Andrew Garfield, Mark Romanek, Zach Galifianakis, Carey Mulligan, Harmony Korine, Sam Rockwell, Richard Linklater, Michael Shannon, and dozens of other prominent actors and directors currently working today. In 2009, NBC named him one of the 25 most interesting people in Dallas, along with Erykah Badu and Nolan Ryan. Later that year, The Wrap listed him as one of 30 Movie Insiders to Follow Right Now On Twitter, with Peter Travers, Harry Knowles, and Slash Film's Peter Sciretta. Whale was a member of the Dallas-Fort Worth Film Critics Association, and the Austin Film Critics Association. Since GATW's departure, he's programmed for the Alamo Drafthouse and Fantastic Fest, and his reviews, interviews, and editorials have been featured on websites including Twitch, Film.com, Next Movie, Film Threat, The Playlist, We Got This Covered, and Latino Review (keep it between us girls, but yes, Whale is white). He is a member of Rotten Tomatoes and Indiewire's Criticwire, and is one of the Featured Film Critics for Twitch.net.
