Sideways

On the indie front, a tale about two middle-aged buddies going on one last road trip before one of them takes the plunge into holy matrimony is this years Golden Tomato Award winner. Coming in at 96% on the Tomatometer, with an adjusted score of 86.60, Sideways is Alexander Payne's latest project. To earn this years top honor, it charmed film critics with a funny and heartfelt story, sympathetic characters, and fine performances from the cast. It's no wonder that this movie is getting recognition from nearly all of the major awards. Before Sunset, Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy's little-seen sequel to their 1995's Before Sunrise, came in at second place with an adjusted score of 84.00 and 94% on the Tomatometer. Maria Full of Grace, a movie which puts a human face on the drug trade, rounded out the top three, coming in with a Tomatometer of 96% and an adjusted score of 83.50.
