The Incredibles

True to its name, The Incredibles really is incredible. Directed by The Iron Giant's Brad Bird, this animated action-adventure film from Pixar Studios beat out some stiff competition to become this year's Golden Tomato Awards winner. With 96% on the Tomatometer and an adjusted score of 87.77, this tale of a family with superpowers who come out of hiding to battle an obsessive fan won the hearts and minds of film critics. Featuring memorable characters, great visuals, and a fun-filled screenplay that offers something for everyone, it has all the hallmarks of a true family film. The box office bears this out with a domestic take of $257M, the fourth highest in 2004, right behind Shrek 2, Spider-Man 2, and The Passion of the Christ. Spider-Man 2, Sam Raimi's sequel to his 2002 box office hit, came in second, with a Tomatometer of 93% and an adjusted score of 85.83. Hero, Zhang Yimou's first foray into the martial arts genre, rounded out the top three, with a Tomatometer of 94% and an adjusted score of 85.14.
