By Scott Weinberg

There have been very few literary sensations that can even compare with the Harry Potter phenomenon. The brainchild of school teacher-turned-author J.K. Rowling, the tales of a young wizard became a massive success practically overnight. And with the books flying off the shelves at an unprecedented clip, it was only a matter of time before Hollywood came knocking.

Warner Bros. was fortunate enough to land the deal, and the result has been a trilogy of amazingly popular cinematic treats. With the fourth adaptation set to hit screens this week, we thought now might be a good time to look back, catch up, and inform the uninitiated as to why so many people love these movies so much. While few would argue that the movies are better than the source material, they've proven to be extremely popular and, not surprisingly, profitable. And with so much positive buzz built up for Part 4, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," there seems to be very little chance that the new film will disappoint.
