OVERVIEW
Days turn to hours and hours turn to minutes as the countdown continues for the most prestigious awards show in showbiz, the Academy Awards. Last year it was Clint Eastwood's "Million Dollar Baby" that turned out to be the champ, winning accolades for Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actor. And what of the 2006 show, hosted by Jon Stewart?
As of yet, there's no sure-fire formula to predict the winners, but it helps to gauge which movies and people are generating the loudest buzz. Here you can view a tally summarizing the results of the major pre-Oscar awards, as well as the Oscar itself, to track which are the incoming favorites to take home the gold.
From the look of things, "Brokeback Mountain" is heavily favored, but is there a dark horse among the other nominees who can pull a surprising upset? We won't know for sure until the envelopes are opened. Check back during Oscar night for up-to-the-minute tallies as we keep score.
