One way or another every one of Tarantino's films are Masterpieces that treat audiences to something that they have never experienced before and never would if it were not for Tarantino.

first of all, before people get nasty and curse me for posting such a "devil's advocate" type topic, I'm a HUGE fan of Tarantino, and will go see any movie he is involved in (i even saw hostel after being advised not to lol) but sometimes i feel like he gets a little more credit than he deserves. No question he has a great understanding and love for movies, but i see his movies as more of a tribute to other movies than something of complete inovation. He has revived a lot of aspects of film and is a master of dialogue but in some ways, i feel like he is laughing at the ignorent people who dont realize his rehash of old films, familiar plots and in somecases entire scene lifts. I could be wrong though... thoughts?

I think that depends. He really is a good writer and director, but usually movies that have his name on it for show (Hostel, Hell Ride, etc.) he really didn't do a lot with. He's become a major selling point in the movie industry, and if having his name listed as "Executive Producer" boosts DVD sales, then they're going to do it.

I dont really mean the movies he isnt directly involved with though. i simply meant, i tend to see things that have his name on them.

Movies are meant to entertain and his movies are very entertaining. All that matters is if you like it. Not where he got the idea, or if it is a tribute to some other movie. He deserves credit because he has definately provided entertainment.

Tarantino wrote the story for this movie, and it remains the only movie where he is just credited with "Story". However, Oliver Stone made some major changes when he wrote the screenplay, and Tarantino thought that is was "a piece of s***". I still love this movie, but what do the rest of you think?

i always thought NBK was a ok movie, but i like Oliver Stones other work more. This is news to me so maybe it would have been a better movie if Tarantino directed it. I'm sure he would have paid homage to great serial killer movies like Henry:Portrait of a Serial Killer and Man Bites Dog.
