Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief is the opening salvo of what?s sure to be a franchise; it?s based upon the book series by Rick Riordan, and tells the tale of the titular teen, whose father is none other than Poseidon. Entrusted with the franchise's port to theaters, Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone director Chris Columbus will be taking the wheel for the series' first film.

In this first installment, Percy (Logan Lerman) discovers his lineage, and embarks on a cross country journey to save his mother and try to end a dispute between the gods. Uma Thurman and Pierce Brosnan also star in this fantasy adventure that certainly has all the pedigree to make a splash at the box office.
