Helen Parr (Holly Hunter), or Elastigirl, might just be the perfect mother. When she and her husband Bob (Craig T. Nelson), aka Mr. Incredible, are forced to hide their super identities and retreat to suburbia, she does her best to focus on raising their three children. When Bob is nearly arrested during a late night escapade, Helen holds it together and avoids an argument for the sake of the children. Later, when Bob is swept up into a plot on his life by an alluring mystery woman, Helen flies to the rescue, and when she discovers that her two older children have tagged along, she not only does her utmost to keep them safe, but she helps them develop and master their own superpowers. Bob eventually comes around and realizes how his actions have affected his family, but it’s Helen who truly forms the rubber cement that binds them together throughout the whole ordeal. And in many ways, Helen is representative of housewives the world over, who constantly make sacrifices for the greater good of the family, and who all possess the ability to smack you from across the room before you even realize what you’ve done wrong.
